Universal and Speedline Equipment Selected For Memco’s New PCB Assembly Line

Contax Ltd - UK

28 February 2008

Production automation system specialist, Contax Ltd, has sold a range of Universal and Speedline systems to Memco Ltd, to equip its new production line.

Memco, the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of lift door safety equipment, has purchased 2 Universal Instruments’ placement machines, the AdVantis AC-30L and the AdVantis AX-72e. An MPM AccuFlex stencil printer and an Electrovert OmniFlex 7 reflow oven from Speedline Technologies completes the order.

These systems will be used to manufacture PCBs used in Memco’s range of safety edges for lifts, 80 percent of which are exported across the world.

Mark Elliott, Production Engineer at Memco Ltd, explained, “We developed our list of criteria and contacted several suppliers. Contax then came up with the Universal/Speedline solution, and this met with our full approval. I have personally worked with Contax for over 20 years, and know that the systems they selected come with an established pedigree.

“Universal has an excellent reputation for reliability, and the machines have the high placement capacity that we need. The AC-30L is a very fast, 30-spindle chip shooter, whilst the AX-72e is a multi-function, dual head machine which offers us greater flexibility”.

He continued, “MPM and Electrovert are well-known and respected brands. We have used MPM printers in the past and been very happy with them.

“With the benefit of Contax’s experience and advice, and the proven reliability of Universal and Speedline products, we are confident that we have chosen the best solution available,” he concluded.
