Production automation specialist, Contax Ltd, has installed a second Komax Gamma 333PC automatic crimping machine at Elite Electronics, Northern Ireland’s leading contract electronics manufacturer (CEM), as part of its overall expansion and investment programme.
Elite had purchased its first Gamma 333PC a year ago, and upgraded it shortly afterwards by adding a new double-sided Komax ims 291 black ink jet marker. This new acquisition will further boost its production capacity, so enabling it to handle the sharp increase in business. Elite specialises in providing turnkey contract electronics manufacturing services, including the building of wiring harness assemblies for electrical and industrial applications.
“We have been using the Gamma 333PC for a while now,” explained David Allen, Operations Director at Elite Electronics. “It provides us with the flexibility and reliability that we need as a major CEM. So, when we needed to increase our capacity due to the influx of orders, we automatically went back to Contax for another system.
“Contax have always provided us with an exemplary service, and our recent experience has been no exception. They have been very good throughout, making sure that the new system was installed promptly so enabling us to cope with the increased workload,” he said.
The Gamma 333PC is sophisticated and flexible system, ideally suited to CEMs. It offers the capacity to add a third processing station on side one, and can perform a number of new processes. It can produce two-ended crimp contacts, process double-crimp connections with three different terminals or apply seals on one end of the wire. Other options include tinning and ink jet marking. The Gamma 333PC has integral process monitoring, so ensuring perfect wire trimming and stripping and optimum quality control.
