OVER MOULDING
TM 4000
Contax Ltd - UK
The Werner Wirth TM 4000 Moulding Machine is a low-pressure, moulding machine. It is a larger version of the TM 3500, with higher closing force of the moulds, and the option of having two lower moulds on a sliding table, for faster throughput. It is designed specifically to work with hot melt Polyamides, which are perfectly suited to overmoulding, encapsulating and protecting delicate components. The TM 4000 can be used with economical aluminium mould tools to overmould grommets or strain-relief features onto delicate cables, or encapsulate a connector housing. Or it can mould a housing or protective layer over all or part of a small PCB or sensor assembly.
The TM 4000 uses the TM 1000 heating chamber which can be filled with up to 6 kg of hot melt material. Once this has melted and reached the required temperature set on the electronic control, then a timed flow of material can be triggered. The cooling period can be timed also.
The low temperature and viscosity of the material will not damage wire insulation or PCB mounted components.
Because of the low pressure compared to normal moulding materials, the moulds used can be made from aluminium, and do not need such tight closure tolerances, so are very economical to make.
A cooling unit can also be fitted to maintain a constant mould temperature.
