Extendor
Contax Ltd - UK
The ProEff Extendor is designed to open grommets and accurately place them on cables, hoses or wiring harnesses. With even quite small grommets, it can take a lot of effort for the operator to stretch them open far enough to get wires through. This is hard work, even when using the correct hand tool, and can be impossible if you need to open the grommet wide enough to get a leg of a wiring harness through, when the connector housing is already in place on the wire ends. For bigger grommets and strain relief sleeves, there is really no way an operator can get them onto the cable with a hand tool. So ProEff developed a range of machines which will open the grommet with strong pneumatically powered prongs, and then push the grommet off the prongs and into place on the harness or cable.
To cope with all your applications, there is a wide range of models and configurations. The prong stroke can be adjusted, and prong sets can be quickly changed over for different jobs. The Extendor can be operated with a footswitch, so the operator has both hands free to manoeuvre the material through the grommet. This makes the work very easy compared to using a hand tool, and ensures more accurate and consistent placement. There is also the option of a return stroke stop, so the prongs only partially close to allow material removal, then can be closed further to get the next grommet on. The machines are available with 3 or 4 prongs, and there is a smaller model which can be hung on a counterbalance, to use along a harness wiring board or assembly line. The Extendor range contains the solution to all your grommet application needs, and is the answer to RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) problems for the operator.
